I’ve always been a great basketball player. If coach needed someone to score, defend, or just intimidate, I was the person to call on. I had to be strong and smart enough to make game-winning decisions. I had to be physically fit so that I could stay in the game for long periods of time. I had to be mentally tough to get past the verbal taunts and obscene gestures made by opposing fans. Therefore, I had to build my endurance by spending time on the treadmill, track, and hardwood (basketball court). See, although I was a great player and most players had a difficult time guarding me, my skills were of no use if I was unable to utilize them due to lack of sufficient power and energy.
There’s also this really good basketball player named LeBron James. He is the engine that keeps his team going in basketball games. There is a lot of pressure on him to perform well in every game or they might risk losing. He is currently considered the greatest basketball player in the world. He could make all the fancy moves and shots he wants to but without POWER, his skill sets are null and void. In order to maintain such a title, his work-out regimen must befit the task he is called to. That means he spends countless hours practicing and taking care of his body and mind. If he didn’t have the power and sustainability to use his skills, he would be considered useless to his team.
So I share those two examples to say this;
God has given you gifts, talents, and the anointing. He has equipped you to play a certain role on or for someone’s team. But something’s missing. Your impact should be greater! You need the power to activate the authority you’ve been given.
Well, that only leaves one question. What activates your authority?
The Answers; spending time in the Word of God and building relationship with Him. You have to build those spiritual skills by spending time reading, praying, fasting, sharing the good news, sharing testimonies, and building a character that reflects Christ.
What teams are waiting on you? How have you been working out to become faster, stronger, and efficient?
I encourage you today to spend some time examining who you’ve been called to and what it will take to fulfill your God-given roles.
Signed, #Baller
