What mask are you wearing?

Life can send a lot of things your way. The hurt , joy, challenges , stressors , and so much more can sometimes seem overwhelming. Wearing a mask appears to dim the reality of the pain hidden beneath. One mask covers what you’re really feeling. The other covers who you are. You have so many masks that it becomes difficult to remember who you really are. You’re so use to putting on a show that you forget who you really are. What are you hiding today? What don’t others know about you? What don’t you know about yourself? I know a person that accepts and loves you beyond the masks you so proudly wear.
If people really knew the things you had to deal with and carry on a daily basis, they would be in complete awe of how you’re able to survive from day to day. What hurt are you unwilling to expose? What if I told you that hurt you’re hiding is the very hurt that someone else needs to see in order to walk in their full potential and purpose? Would you then be willing to unveil you’re hurt to help their heart ? Or does pride, shame, uncertainty, and doubt impact your willingness to share ?
The purpose of a mask is to dim or hide the real you. It gives a false perception of hope, peace, acceptance, joy, and certainty.

For many years I wore a mask to hide the deep feelings of hurt, rejection, suicidal thoughts, uncertainty with who I was in Christ, and a plethora of other things. Removing that mask was too much of a risk. It would risk friendships, jobs, understanding, my image, and how others perceived me.

But there is a freedom in removing the mask that the enemy causes you to believe is a hindrance to yourself and others.  See, that mask you so proudly wear is what separates you from your greater. Can I share something with you? It’s OK to experience challenges, hurt, disappointment, failure, and whatever else come your way. Those things that you tried to hide are the very same things that connect you to your purpose. That process purifies you. It prepares you for greater.
My prayer today is that every mask be removed and that transparency translates in your life. God has not created you to walk covered up. He has called you to a place of peace and prosperity.

Will you receive it? I challenge you today to remove those masks and allow people to see and experience you for who you are, where you’re going, and how you plan to get there. Transparency transforms!
